  • To qualify for MDBI, you must be a member (minimum of €5.00 in your account at all times).
  • If you have a joint account? Both account holders are now eligible to sign up and pay separately for MDBI. You will both complete a separate application form and this will be deducted from your joint account.

As stated in East Coast Credit Union AGM Report 2025

  • The current insurer, Utmost PanEurope DAC have exercised this right and their involvement in the Programme will end from 31st Decemeber 2025.
  • From 1st January 2026, this programme will be underwritten by Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC (“Aviva”) which is registered in Ireland under company registration number 165970.
  • The cost for 2026 will be €88 which is the same as it was for 2025.
  • There is no guarantee that this insurance will continue until your death. The insurer may opt to terminate the Programme and cover at the end of each Programme Period. At present, the Programme Period runs for one year at a time, based on the calendar year.

  • The policy is underwritten by Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC which is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • * A pre-existing medical condition limitation applies to this Programme. This means that cover is not provided if a member were to die from a pre-existing medical condition during the first six months of their membership of the programme. Terms and conditions apply.
  • East Coast Credit Union Ltd. Member Death Benefit Insurance Programme is a group policy of the credit union and open to participation by members, subject to eligibility criteria outlined in the Key Facts & Summary provided to me by East Coast Credit Union or at www.eastcoastcu.ie;
  • The Programme is arranged, on behalf of East Coast Credit Union Ltd. by CUNA Mutual Group Services (Ireland) Ltd. which is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • The policy is underwritten by Utmost Pan Europe dac which is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • The details provided in this application form together with any other information that is furnished to us in connection with this application will be retained and processed by East Coast Credit Union in accordance with our privacy statement which is available on our website www.eastcoastcu.ie and in our banking hall.

I wish to opt-in to avail of the Member Death Benefit Insurance Programme as provided by East Coast Credit Union Ltd. and arranged by CUNA Mutual Group Services (Ireland) Ltd.:

I confirm that:

  • I am a member of East Coast Credit Union and am eligible to join the Member Death Benefit Insurance Programme. I am aware I must be under the age of 71 years for this programme, and I confirm I meet this requirement.
  • I have read and understood the Key Facts & Policy Summary as provided to me.
  • I will undertake to have sufficient funds in my credit union shares account to pay for the annual premium attaching to the provision of this insurance cover and my inclusion in the Programme.
  • I understand that this is a Programme that will auto renew on an annual basis, and the attaching premium will be deducted from my credit union shares account on this basis.
  • I am also aware that the benefits and costs of this Programme may be varied annually but I will be informed of any such changes or updates through East Coast Credit Unions AGM booklet. e-AGM booklet and from the website www.eastcoastcu.ie
  • I understand that this Programme runs from 1st January to the 31st of December each year. I understand I can opt-in on 1st of January and the 1st of July. The fee will be on a prorata basis.
  • Thereafter the Programme if renewed by the insurer, we will run for a calendar year at a time, the ongoing Programme period.
  • Should I wish to opt-out or cancel my participation in the Member Death Benefit Insurance Policy, I will inform East Coast Credit Union Ltd. In writing of my decision.
  • My understanding is that my participation in the Programme will automatically stop should I cease to be a member of East Coast Credit Union Ltd. or if there are insufficient funds in my account to cover the annual cost of my premium.
  • I understand that the insurer can opt to terminate the Programme and cover at the end of each Programme period.
  • I confirm that the information I have provided to East Coast Credit Union Lid is correct and I provide my consent to this information being shared with CUNA Mutual and its insurers, for the purpose of my membership of the Member Death Benefit Insurance Programme.

  • I confirm that I authorise East Coast Credit Union Ltd to deduct the cost of my cover in the Programme (the premium), which I acknowledge may be reviewed and/or changed annually, from my credit union shares account.
  • I understand that if there are insufficient funds in my account to pay the annual premium, then my membership of the Member Death Benefit insurance Programme will lapse.
